150,000 acres to be cultivated under Egyptian-Sudanese agricultural integration program

Egypt and Sudan have decided to double the capital of the Egyptian-Sudanese Agricultural Integration Company, by allowing the private sector to contribute to its capital.

Official sources said the two countries hope to increase the cultivated area of the Blue Nile state from 60,000 acres to 150,000 acres, for crops such as cotton, corn, sesame and sunflower.

Minister of Agriculture Salah Helal and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hossam Maghazi will attend the meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, to propose joint projects that require funding, before presenting them to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and President Omar al-Bashir.

Helal said the projects are suitable for the agricultural development of the two countries.
