7000 soldiers and snipers to secure Morsy’s visit to Assiut

Informed sources said that the Republican Guard and the Special Forces are dispersing in 16 positions in Assiut to secure President Mohamed Morsy’s visit on Friday, which would last for only a few hours. Military Intelligence surveyed the president’s route, which starts from south Assiut and ends at Omar Makram Mosque for prayers.

Assiut Governor Yehya Keshk said the president’s office did not coordinate the visit with him.

The sources added that snipers were placed on the roofs of the buildings surrounding Assiut University, and that the National Security Bureau and the Military Intelligence Service took the names of the people attending the president’s conference.

The force securing the president comprises 7,000 soldiers and 30 armored vehicles, which raised criticism among various political forces.
