Anna al-Khamesi wins first prize of al-Alem short story contest

Anna al-Khamesi won the first prize of the Mahmoud Amin al-Alem short story contest, which was held at the Afaq Ishtirakiya Center, for her story  “The Chestnut.”
 
The second prize went to Maged Shiha for his story “Things of the Sea” and the third to Yehia Saqr for his story “Metro.”
 
Anna’s father, writer Ahmed al-Khamesi, said on Facebook that he feels alive when his daughter writes, feels, thinks and breathes. “This is my award,” he said. “I will continue to feel with her mind and heart even when I die.”
