Antiquities ministry receives artifact retrieved from UK

The Foreign Affairs Ministry has handed the Antiquities Ministry an artifact retrieved from the United Kingdom, according to Olfat Farah, head of cultural relations at the foreign ministry.

The sandstone piece features a bold scripture of the face of a deity and dates back to the 18th Pharaonic dynasty, according to Farah, who added that the piece had been stolen from the Karnak Temple.

A British law firm contacted Egypt’s cultural attache in London, informing him that one of the firm’s client had volunteered to return the piece, saying he was unaware it left Egypt illegally.
