Arab Journalists Union to hold annual meeting in Sudan

The Arab Journalists Union announced it would hold its annual meeting November 29-30 in Sudan after receiving an invitation from the Union of Sudanese Journalists.

Sixty leaders from journalists' syndicates, board members and representatives from 19 Arab organizations for journalists will attend the meeting.

The meeting will include discussions about the union's stance on major political developments in Arab countries, especially Palestine, said Secretary General of the Arab Journalists Union Zakaria Hatem. Hatem said the head of the Palestinian Journalists Union will present a report on Israeli violations against Palestinians.

The meetings will also discuss press freedom in Arab countries, especially in light of the detention, abduction and torture of journalists in the region, Hatem added.
