Brotherhood members resume protests in Aswan

Muslim Brotherhood supporters in Aswan resumed on Wednesday their street marches, after being suspended for 12 days due to security conditions in the governorate.

A least 25 people were killed and dozens were injured as clashes broke out earlier this month between Nubians from the village of Daboud and the Beni Helal tribe reportedly after a girl belonging to one of the tribes was harassed by a man from the other tribe. Moreover, abusive graffiti against both parties had been spray-painted on the walls of a secondary school.

Dozens of supporters staged a march at the Atlas area in Aswan and flashed Rabaa signs. They also chanted slogans against the police and military.

Police fired teargas on the march until it was dispersed. Two protesters were arrested.
