CAPMAS: Inflation rises to 9.8% in March

Urban Egypt’s annual inflation rate rose to 9.80 percent in March of 2014, compared to 9.76 percent in February of 2014, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported on Thursday.
 
The monthly inflation rate rose to 0.7 percent March, down from the 1 percent monthly increase in February. Between January and March inflation rates was recorded at 10.3 percent compared to the same period of previous year.
 
The general prices of foods and beverages in urban increased by 1.4 percent since February. Since March of last year, though, prices have rose by 16.1 percent, CAPMAS reported.
 
CAPMAS also reported that the rural inflation rate in March also increased to 10.6 percent year on year and 0.7 percent month on month.
