Clashes between protesters, Brotherhood members in Moqattam

Clashes erupted on Saturday night between protesters and members of the Muslim Brotherhood in front of the group's headquarters in the eastern Cairo suburb of Moqattam.

The clashes were prompted when a group of Brotherhood members attacked protesters spraying graffiti against the group near its headquarters. Witnesses said that Brotherhood members used sticks and iron chains in their attack against protesters.

Security forces attempted to disperse the protesters and other reinforcements arrived to protect the Muslim Brotherhood headquarters.

Brotherhood spokesperson Mahmoud Ghozlan asserted that the opposition youth insulted his organization "using the most horrid insults, infuriating our youth inside the office." Ghozlan condemned the violence on both ends.
