Court clears Ahmed Ezz of defaming Zeina

Nasr City Misdemeanor Court of Appeals has approved the challenge filed by actor Ahmed Ezz against a first instance verdict that sentenced him to three years in prison and fined him LE15,000 in addition to LE20,000 as temporary civil compensation over accusations of defaming actress Zeina.

Ezz’s defense pleaded that the incidents did not take place.

The previous verdict was made in June 2016.

In June of the previous year, Nasr City Family Court issued a verdict saying that the twins of actress Zeina were proven to be the children of Ezz. It compelled Ezz to recognize his paternal responsibilities, allowing Zeina to issue birth certificates and other official documents for the children.

Ezz will have to pay his children's monthly expenses in accordance with the ruling.

Zeina had filed a lawsuit against Ezz saying that she married him on June 15, 2012, and that the twins are his children.
