Dozens of Beheira farmers protest non-disbursed compensations

Dozens of farmers who have been harmed by recent heavy rain in Beheira protested in Kafr al-Dawwar on Monday outside the Agriculture Ministry against the government's failure to disburse compensations.

Compensations have not been disbursed to farmers despite in the the two months since torrential rain harmed their crops and property, they said.

The protesters said that the employee responsible for the disbursement of compensations with the directorate has forgotten to submit the names of 800 Beheira farmers who own 1,200 acres of land.

The employee will be referred to interrogation, said Beheira governorate spokesperson Wahdan al-Sayyed, adding that the compensations would be disbursed to harmed farmers in January.
