ESDP withdraws from Amr Moussa’s electoral alliance because of Ahmed Shafiq

Ahmed Fawzy, secretary general of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party (ESDP), said on Monday that the party withdrew from the electoral alliance founded by Amr Moussa, head of the Constitutional Committee of 50.

He said the party refuses an alliance that includes elements of the dissolved National Democratic Party or those who describe the 25 January revolution as a conspiracy, particularly the National Movement Party that is headed by Ahmed Shafiq.

“We joined the alliance before those who rigged the 2010 parliamentary elections and the security personnel of the former regime did,” he added.

“We invite everyone, including Amr Moussa, to join our alliance with the Wafd Party,” Fawzy said.
