Ethiopian Irrigation Minister: Declaration of Principles will not reduce Renaissance Dam storage capacity

The Ethiopian Irrigation Minister said the Declaration of Principles that was signed between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia in Khartoum is a political agreement unrelated to the technical aspects of the Renaissance Dam and that signing it will not reduce the storage capacity of the dam.

In response to a question about whether Ethiopia would abide by the studies put out on the dam, the minister told Al-Masry al-Youm that the three signatories to the agreement would abide by it.

He considered the Declaration of Principles a positive step toward building trust and reducing misunderstandings between the signatories before the joint committees develop a final agreement.
