Expert: Egypt not significantly economically affected by IS

Economic Researcher Reda Eissa said that IS has not had a significant impact on the economy.

He said the presence of IS in neighboring countries has only effected the tourism sector as loyal groups in Sinai were seized and terrorist operations were limited.

Recent explosions have not effected the economy or the infrastructure in Egypt, which includes factories, farm transportation networks and others, he added.

Syrian refugees, according to Eissa, cannot be considered burdens on the Egyptian economy, as most of them work in trade and have projects in different fields like textile and food products. Moreover, they have caused activity within the real estate sector through renting and buying apartments.
