Family of New Valley victim say body they received not their son’s

The family of Islam Abdel Moneim, a soldier who was killed on Saturday in a terrorist attack in New Valley, discovered that the body they received was not their son's.

At least 21 soldiers were killed when gunmen attacked a military checkpoint in New Valley governorate.

The attack was the bloodiest since the ouster of President Mohamed Morsy in July 2013. Several Islamist groups claimed responsibility for a number of attacks, while authorities accuse the Muslim Brotherhood of being behind the attacks.

The mistake was discovered after the family uncovered the body's face inside the ambulance. Investigators said that security services had transferred the wrong body to the morgue.
