Female voters in niqab have to disclose their identity: judge

Women wearing the Niqab (face veil) will not be allowed to vote in upcoming parliamentary elections if they refuse to disclose their identity to security and in the voting booth, said Spokesperson for the High Elections Commission Judge Omar Marwan.

There will be female supervisors at polling stations to verify the identity of women who cover their faces, said Marwan.

Marawan added that voters can use their expired IDs to vote.

The announcement comes a week after Cairo University announced a ban of the Niqab when giving lectures to students in a classroom.
