Firefighters from Marsa Matrouh Civil Protection were called in to control a large fire that broke out in the early hours of Monday morning, hospitalizing five people, at Marina 2 resort on the north coast.

The fire, which broke out in a row of three shops in a market area of the holiday resort, took four fire engines to extinguish, said the newspaper Youm7.

Five people were taken to Alamein central hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. They were treated and are reported to be in a stable condition.
