Flood-stricken farmers enraged by weak compensation

Farmers affected by severe floods and heavy rain in Alexandria and neighboring Beheira in recent weeks have criticized the small damage payments disbursed by the government, vowing to take legal action.
 
Local Development Minister Ahmed Zaki Badr delivered compensations for damages worth LE1,000-LE2,000 to 150 farmers from both governorates, to which the recipients threatened to take judicial action to receive better payments.
 
Rainstorms and consequent floods in Alexandria and Beheira have killed at least 30 since October 25, with businesses and daily life being constantly disrupted by bad weather.
 
Wahid Saudi, a spokesperson of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, had predicted unstable weather conditions from Monday to Wednesday, with heavy rain and floods possible in a number of governorates
