Food supply minister tackles Egyptian investment projects with Russians

Domestic Trade and Food Supply Minister Khaled Hanafy tackled investment issues with an alliance of major Russian companies on Monday.

The plan is to establish silos to preserve wheat and grains, as well as build modern mills, logistics centers and factories to produce fodder and dairy for the total cost of US$60 million, which will be financed by the Russian exports bank.

The meeting included the minister, the head of the alliance, the head of the alliance’s technical office, heads of the Russian companies and representatives of the trade office at the Russian embassy in Egypt.

Silos will be established to preserve the wheat at a capacity of 60,000 to 100,000 tons per silo. In addition to modern mills with a capacity of 600 tons daily, logistics centers will preserve vegetables, fruits and food commodities in all provinces in order to provide them to citizens at affordable prices. Some factories will produce fodder with a capacity of 40 tons per hour, while others will produce dairy products.
