Turkey requested holding a meeting with Egypt on the sidelines of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held in New York, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Badr abdel Aaty said, adding that Egypt accepted given that no problems exist with the Turkish people.
In a phone call with Al-Hayah 2 TV on Monday, Abdel Aaty said from New York that bilateral ties between the two countries as well as some regional issues will be reviewed.
Ties between Cairo and Ankara had deteriorated since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsy, the strongest ally of Turkey in the region, in July 2013. Turkey officially rejected the ouster and then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan attacked Egypt in several occasions.
