Hassan Mostafa’s appeal adjourned to 4 May

Activist Hassan Mostafa’s appeal against charges of assaulting a prosecutor has been adjourned until 4 May.

Hundreds of activists protested in front of the Alexandria Criminal Court Saturday in solidarity with Mostafa, who was initially sentenced to two years’ imprisonment after a prosecutor claimed he assaulted him during an investigation into clashes around the court in January.

Protesters held banners reading “it is still the same, the Interior [Ministry] are thugs,” “down with the rule of the supreme guide” and “the thug holding a stick calls himself the government,” while also calling for the release of Mostafa and all other political prisoners arrested under President Mohamed Morsy’s watch.

The session was the first of Mostafa’s appeal trial since his appeal was granted by the Mansheya Misdemeanor Court of Appeals.
