Heavy rains to continue in Alexandria

The city of Alexandria and other parts of the northern coast along the Mediterranean saw heavy rains on Saturday accompanied by a decline in temperature.

Rains caused flooding followed by traffic congestion on main streets and in slums that suffer from poor drainage.

Meanwhile, Alexandria's seaport authorities declared the port would remain open, saying that wind speed and wave height is still within normal rates. However, sailing was cancelled at the eastern seaport.

Minor floods, which started on 19 December, are expected to continue for five days, accompanied by southeast winds and heavy rains.
