Hollande: France will help attract funds for Egypt

French President Francois Hollande said he discussed with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi the fight against terrorism.

“Egypt is a country struck by terrorism, especially Sinai. Like many other countries in the region, Egypt is facing terrorist movements that may exist in neighboring countries,” he said. “We must work together to combat terrorism.”

At a joint news conference on Wednesday afternoon, Hollande said many agreements were signed between the two countries, especially in regards to the Cairo Metro and the development of renewable energy sources, adding that a joint economic committee would be formed in March.

“I am looking forward to visiting Egypt next year,” he said.

He said that Egypt needs the help of international institutions and that France will also help attract funds for Egypt.

He also said that it was agreed to join efforts and help the Libyan people, and to help resume peace negotiations between Palestine and Israel on the basis of a recognition of two states.
