IED blast injures 2 policemen, 1 civilian in Giza

Two policemen and one civilian was injured in an IED blast at a security checkpoint near al-Galaa Bridge in Giza Tuesday, head of Giza explosives department Hesham Youssef told Al-Masry Al-Youm.

They were transferred to the hospital.

Two people riding a motorcycle threw an IED on the checkpoint leading to the explosion.

A taxi driver then chased the perpetrator and handed him over to the police, a source at Giza Security Directorate said.

The arrested defendant confessed that he belongs to the "Soldiers of Egypt" group. According to investigations, the defendant, Yasser A, 23, is from Beni Suef and resides in the Gizan neighborhood Saft Ellaban. 

Soldiers of Egypt claimed responsibility for three blasts at al-Nahda Square targeting security officials. The Health Ministry issued a statement saying that a citizen was injured in the Tuesday blast and was transferred to Ebn Sina Hospital in Dokki.
