Initial reports say car bomb used in Daqahlia blast

A high-level security source from the Interior Ministry said that preliminary investigations show that a car bomb was used in the Mansoura blast on Tuesday.

The source said that the size of blast shows that large amounts of explosives were used. Forensic teams have been on the scene collecting evidence from the blast site to determine whether the car was detonated remotely or by using a timer.

A large blast occurred in the Security Directorate of Daqahlia in Mansoura on Tuesday at around 1:30am local time.

The latest reports said that at least 13 people were killed and more than 100 others were wounded. The casualties include both policemen and civilians.
