Israel stages demolitions raid in Jerusalem

Israeli bulldozers began a wide-scale demolition campaign of Palestinian-owned property in Jerusalem early on Tuesday, over an alleged lack of construction licenses.
 
Jerusalem sources said that Israeli special forces invaded the town of Silwan during the early hours of Tuesday, cutting off some of its streets in order to proceed with demolitions.
 
Israeli Defense Force troopers also erected barricades on the northern entrances of Hebron, inspecting Palestinian cars and the identities of their drivers.
 
A young Palestinian from al-Fawwar refugee camp south of Hebron was arrested after his home had been raided.
 
In Gaza, Israeli gunboats opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats off the enclave’s northwestern coasts, but no injuries resulted from the gunfire.
