Prosecutors on Wednesday charged former MP Mostafa Bakry, Chief Editor of Al-Osbou weekly magazine, of defaming Minister of Military Production Sayed Meshaal in a television talk show.
Bakry, who was released pending investigation, said he spoke harshly because Meshaal provoked him by denying the recent parliamentary election fraud.
“I did not mean to personally offend Meshaal,” Bakry said. “I was talking about the elections as a whole.”
Bakry had lost his parliamentary seat to Meshaal in the elections.
