Journalists Syndicate: Security forces did not protect headquarters from Monday attack

Hanan Fekry, member of the Journalists Syndicate Board, said Tuesday that security forces disregarded a call by the syndicate to protect it in clashes that occured at the High Court on Monday.

Unidentified people, reportedly Morsy supporters, chased photojournalists who took refuge in the Journalists Syndicate, Fekry said. The syndicate's security personnel detained one of the attackers after they attacked the building using stones, breaking the frontage. The security let the detained man go later following clashes.

Fekry said the syndicate was forced to close its doors Monday starting at 5 pm due to insecurity in its vicinity.

Fekry said she tried to call the police and the armed forces to the scene, but they did not respond.
