Cairo Airport authorities confiscated LE20,000  (US$2,600) from an Egyptian passenger for violating a law that bans the possession of more than LE5,000 while traveling abroad.

When the passenger heading to Abu Dhabi was checked, she was found to be carrying LE25,000 cash on her person. She was allowed to take only LE5,000 in accordance with the law, while the remaining LE20,000 was confiscated.
