Libya’s MB: Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia interfere in Libyan affairs

General Comptroller of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) in Libya Bashir Al-Kabta stressed that the group in Libya backs 'legitimacy' and strongly criticized statements by Libyan Prime Minister Abdallah Al-Thani in which he said that the Fajr Libya (Dawn of Libya) forces are the military arm of the Muslim Brotherhood. Kabta stressed that the Muslim Brotherhood has no military arm.

Kabta expressed concern about what he believed was an incursion by some regional powers on the Libyan arena, saying: "There is no doubt about a clear role for Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. It is clear through the support of Haftar's aviation and through the funding of Sawaaq and Qaqaa brigades…We have seen Emirati armored vehicles. No more evidence is needed."

"We were hoping neighboring countries, especially Egypt, would be neutral and seek stability in Libya away from the exclusionary tendencies," Kabta added.

Commenting on the denials issued by the Egyptian presidency on Egypt's interference in Libyan affairs, Kabta said: "Officials deny on the one hand and on the other hand [Egyptian] Intelligence works… Egyptians are in the scene."

Kabta warned of Egypt's "bet on hank or group of mercenaries at the expense of the whole Libyan people," saying it would negatively affect the future of Egyptian-Libyan relations.

"The Muslim Brotherhood in Libya has no military arm. We basically do not take Mr. Thani's words seriously. He does not convey the events honestly and genuinely as a responsible official for the Libyan people's governemnt," said Kabta.

"We got used to such irresponsible statements and we got bored of the lies of paid media which try to say that the Muslim Brotherhood is behind all the country's tragedies, while primarily those responsible for all this is the government which was led by Zidane and included Thani as a minister of defense," Kabta added.

Major General Khalifa Haftar "became dominant not only through the military groups under his command, but also and more importantly, on the political arena through imposing conditions and the dictates on the House of Representatives and the current Libyan government," said Kabta.

Chairman of the Council of Wisemen of the city of Tobruk Abdel Qadir Hamid said during a meeting with representatives of the Palestinian and Syrian communities city of Tobruk, said that Libyan relations with Egypt have been strong over the years, stressing the need to maintain strong bilateral relations with Egypt due to its significant leading role in in the Arab and Islamic nation.

Violent clashes and battles continued between pro-Islamist forces and Haftar loyalists in different parts of the city.
