Lobna Abdel Aziz: We were hit by the curse of the pharaohs after we shot the movie ‘Bride of the Nile’

Actress Lobna Abdel Aziz told talk show host Isaad Younis of the CBC channel that strange things happened to the cast while shooting the film “Bride of the Nile.”

“We believed that we were hit by the curse of the pharaohs,” she said.

Abdel Aziz also said that she does not like to watch her films. “I was upset when I watched myself in that film,” she said. “It was the first and last time.”

She said the film was a success because Shadi Abdel Salam designed the wardrobe.

“It was Ramses Naguib and Mamdouh al-Leithy who introduced me to cinema,” she said, adding that she was paid LE1000 for her film “The Empty Pillow” with Abdel Halim Hafez. “I took 3000 for my second film and 5000 for my third.”

Abdel Aziz has made 16 films, including one foreign film, and was a guest of honor in two films.

She said the best scene she did was in the movie “This is Love” with Mary Mounib, when Mounib grabbed her by the hair and forced her to crack a nut with her teeth. “Viewers still remember that shot,” she said.
