Minister: Govt will not go back on raw materials export ban

Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, minister of industry, trade and small and medium enterprises, said the government will not go back on the raw materials export ban, adding that the government will provide all facilities to local or foreign investors who would use the raw material to produce finished products that have a higher return when exported.

The minister said there is a tax of LE200 per ton on crude or roughly trimmed marble and LE50 on all types of sand. “This does not intend to increase the financial resources of the state as much as to boost competition,” he said.

This came in a meeting with producers and exporters of construction materials.
