Minister: More than 600,000 new voters added to database

Major General Adel Labib, administrative and local development minister, said on Wednesday 625,864 new voters have been added to the database since the last update made since the referendum on constitutional amendments until 20 March.
 
Total number of eligible voters reached 53,882,406 voters.
 
In a press conference on Wednesday at the ministry headquarters, Labib said number of voters recorded at the database before the update reached 53,423,485 voters. New voters who have been granted the Egyptian citizenship five years ago, others who reached the legal age, citizens whose addresses have been updated and others who are no more prevented from voting have been added.
 
Total number of voters removed from lists reached 166,943 voters including the deaths, those who are prevented from voting due to nature of their jobs, people who have been granted the Egyptian nationality for less than five years, citizens whose ID cards were suspended or those who changed their ID cards and other cases.
