Minya governor inspects burned market on corniche road

Minya Governor Tareq Nasr inspected on Monday the site where a fire broke out following a butane gas cylinder explosion.

The incident took place in a bazaar on the corniche south of the city. No casualties were reported.

During Nasr's inspection, it was confirmed that the situation had been controlled by firefighters and medics.

Security troops, according to the governor, are checking the area to identify the cause of the fire, and the prosecution has conducted investigations.

Preliminary examinations showed that 23 unused market stalls out of a total of 69 stalls of a bazaar affiliated with the governorate were burnt. Each stall was constructed out of a metal chassis, tin walls and ceiling and a glass facade.

It is believed the accident was caused by the explosion of a small butane gas cylinder used by security guards. Two of the guards were arrested by police for interrogations.

Meanwhile, another small fire was controlled at a wedding venue on the Mahalla-Tanta agricultural road. No casualties were reported.

A police report was filed and investigations are being carried out.
