Negotiations with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Emirates to inject US$6 bn into Egypt

Investment Minister Ashraf Salman said the Cabinet has started negotiations with the Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to inject US$ 6 billion of the remaining aid package the three countries vowed to offer to Egypt into energy and infrastructure.

Speaking to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Salman said the “government proposed that the three countries pump the US$ 6 billion through investments in the sectors of energy and infrastructure, which have the government’s highest priority within its economic reform program.”

“The three countries preferred to look for investments and chances that the Emirati economy minister, Saudi finance minister and Kuwaiti trade minister believe to be the best and could assist in social and economic development,” he added.

“The three countries are looking for projects that target operation rates to confront unemployment,” he said, indicating meetings that are being held between officials from these countries to identify the opportunities.
