Netanyahu: We are defending ourselves from Hamas terrorism

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday said the Israeli army is defending the country against Hamas' terrorist attacks and has no intention to commit crimes against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Speaking at a press conference broadcast by Sky News Arabia, Netanyahu said Israel will expand the scope of the attack on Gaza on Friday after sending ground troops to the sector. “We act against the Hamas terrorist elements from the air, from land and from the sea,” he said. “We are defending our lives and our homes.”

“Our soldiers are working on the ground and will destroy all tunnels between Israel and the Gaza Strip,” he added. “And I told them to destroy all rocket launchers.”

“Hamas rejected a cease-fire,” he said. “So we had to resort to this for our security.”
