New direct flights between Hurghada, German cities

Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal said on Tuesday that Air Cairo will launch new direct flights to a number of German cities.

In total, there will be seven weekly flights from Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and Hanover to Hurghada via Airbus A320.

The ministry is adopting new strategies to encourage Egyptian airlines to operate flights to tourist cities in order to give a boost to the tourism industry.

"The ministry relies on these regular flights in order to bring back German tourists to Egypt, given that the German market is very important for Egyptian tourism," Kamal added.

Meanwhile, Yasser al-Ramly, chief of Air Cairo, said the flights will be start operating on 3 May.

The company will operate three regular flights per week from Düsseldorf, two flights from Suttgart and two from Hanover, in order to promote direct traffic between Germany and Hurghada, the main Egyptian tourist destination for German tourists.

Ramly added that the new measure is a leap in tourism promotion for Egypt.
