Newspaper: Saudi Arabia will pledge $2 billion to Egypt

Egypt has reached an aid agreement with Saudi Arabia for US$2 billion, according to daily business newspaper Al-Mal.

The aid will be distributed as follows: $500 million to finance development projects, $750 million to purchase petroleum products and $650 million to finance private sector projects.

Meanwhile, the form of aid that will be obtained from Kuwait and UAE is still under consideration, the newspaper reported.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates deposited $6 billion into Egypt's central bank in April.

The oil-rich Gulf countries jointly pledged $12.5 billion in aid to Egypt, investments and central bank deposits at a March investment conference in Sharm el-Sheikh.
