Nine agreements to be signed between Egypt, Jordan

Undersecretary of the International Cooperation Ministry Fathy Mahmoud Abdel Azim said that the joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee has reached nine agreements that will be signed between the two sides. The number is expected to increase Tuesday when meetings will be held at the ministerial level.

Abdel Azim, who heads the Egyptian side of the committee, said in a press statement Monday that the agreements reached so far include memorandums of understandings, protocols and executive programs in irrigation and water resources, radio and television, civil service and the protection of competition.

The agreements also include cooperation agreements in the protection and recovery of stolen cultural property and the illegal trafficking in antiquities, a cooperation program between the Egyptian and Jordanian news agencies, a memorandum of understanding between the diplomatic institutes of the two countries and a protocol on cooperation in the field of electricity.

The two sides discussed the obstacles they face in trade and investments with each other, Abdel Azim said. They also discussed the problems facing Egyptian laborers in Jordan.
