PM blames Nasr City officials for water cut, refers them to prosecution

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb said he ordered referring the officials involved in Nasr City's water cut to the prosecutor general, accusing them of negligence.

Greater Cairo Water Company had declared on Sunday a sudden failure in Zahraa al-Maadi water station, leading to water cuts in several areas including Zahraa al-Maadi, Nasr City and others.

In a phone interview with Al-Youm TV on Monday, Mehleb said, “The water is back to 100 percent of Nasr City,” adding that some turbines that were burnt were being fixed for 18 hours.

Mohie al-Seirafy, the company's spokesperson, said in a statement on Sunday that the “company is sorry for such uncontrolled failure and is doing its best to end the issue as soon as possible.”
