Police officer arrested for stealing drugs from evidence

A police officer was arrested on Saturday by the Shubra al-Kheima prosecution for stealing 17 packs of heroin that had been confiscated as evidence, pending investigations. The suspect was sent to forensic medicine for a drug test.

The public security department was instructed to investigate the issue and send the evidence to the lab.

Security services arrested the officer, who is a first lieutenant in Shubra al-Kheima police station, after some colleagues voiced their doubts as to why he was still at the police station, unnecessarily, from 8am to 8am even though his shift had ended.

Faced with the accusation, he revealed that he kept the drugs next to the police station. As only 11 packs were found, he confessed to taking the rest.

A police report was filed and the prosecution was notified to conduct investigations.
