Pope extends visit to Minya for fourth day

Egypt’s Copts leader Pope Tawadros II decided to extend his first visit to Minya to four days, after he was scheduled to leave on Tuesday.

The pope is expected to head to mass for the anniversary of the Priest Abu Fana monastery on Wednesday.

Tawadros started his visit on Sunday to the city of Samallout in the Minya province to offer condolences for the deaths of the 21 Egyptians who were beheaded last month in Libya by the Islamic State.

During the visit, he held meetings with several bishops and priests, as well as the province’s church leaders.
