Public Prosecution requests Mubarak health report

The Public Prosecution is requesting a medical report on former President Hosni Mubarak from the Maadi Military Hospital to determine if he should stay in the hospital or be sent to prison, according to prosecution spokesperson Mahmoud al-Hefnawy.

Press reports have said that if Mubarak is transferred back to Tora prison, officials there will have to make necessary preparations to assure his safety.

The request comes hours after Mubarak appeared at the first session of his retrial Saturday on charges of killing demonstrators during the January 2011 revolution that ultimately toppled him. Mubarak appeared to be in good condition during the proceedings.
