Recruit shot in North Sinai

A recruit was injured on Wednesday after gunmen shot him while he was on duty near the Rafah border crossing in North Sinai governorate.

A medical source said the 22-year-old recruit was shot in the abdomen at a security facility near the crossing.

The recruit was transferred to the hospital for treatment. Authorities were notified to conduct investigations.

Several bloody attacks took place in Sinai against police and military forces since the ouster of toppled President Mohamed Morsy in July 2013.

Meanwhile, military troops continue to carry raids targeting extremists in the Sinai region.
