A report by the Egyptian Center for Economic and Social Rights has said that labor protest in Egypt have gone down from 2.239 protests in 2013 to 1,655 protests in 2014 since the January 25 revolution.
But the report said this does not mean labor protests will end completely.
Cairo saw 394 protests in 2014, followed by Alexandria with 169, Suez with 151, Gharbiya with 144, Sharqiya with 137 and Menoufia with 119, with protests by public sector workers amounting to 85 percent of the total.
Protests demanding better financial remunerations scored 49 percent, followed by 12.6 percent for improving contractual conditions, 16.9 percent for guarantees, 4.5 percent against corruption and inefficiency, 1.5 percent demanding the right to organize protests, and 15 percent against arbitrary dismissals.
