Sisi meets with Brazilian Minister of Agriculture

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met on Wednesday afternoon at the presidential palace in Heliopolis with Brazilian Minister of Agriculture of Neri Geller.

Attending the meeting were Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Adel al-Beltagy, Egypt's Ambassador to Brazil Hossam Zaki, Marcelo Ferraz, secretary of international relations at the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, and Brazil's Ambassador in Cairo Marco Antonio Brando.
 
Geller conveyed the greetings of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and said she looks forward to inviting President Sisi. He also hoped that this visit, which is the first to Cairo since Sisi became president, would activate relations between the two countries on the political and economic levels. 
 
The minister reviewed his country’s progress made in agriculture, as Brazil succeeded in increasing the production of grains in the past 12 years from 96 million tons per year to 200 million tons per year, noting that his country is willing to share its expertise in this area with Egypt.
 
He also wished to expand bilateral trade in order to reduce unemployment and provide a better life for the peoples of Egypt and Brazil. 
 
Presidential spokesperson Ihab Badawy said Sisi expressed gratitude for the Brazilian president and admiration for the progress Brazil made, pointing out that Egypt is seeking to strengthen cooperation with Brazil in all areas, particularly ​​trade, agriculture, desert land reclamation and scientific research.
 
He accepted the invitation of the Brazilian president to visit the country after the Brazilian presidential elections.
