Sources: Disbanded NDP seek coordination with Nour Party over single-winner constituencies

Salafi-oriented Nour Party’s presidential council has instructed secretaries of the party’s women's committee to drum up female support toward the party’s lists for the coming parliamentary elections.

Sources from the party said that secretaries of the women's committee held a meeting on Saturday with female members of the party over readiness for elections. The sources declared that most of the reports received by the party’s presidential council indicate desire by former MPs of the disbanded National Democratic Party to coordinate with the party over the single-winner constituencies in return for their support for Nour party’s lists.

Tareq al-Sahry, member of the party’s supreme body, said the presidential council did not receive requests from civil parties demanding alliances. He added that leaders of some liberal parties earlier expressed wish to coordinate over the single-winner constituencies and that the supreme body authorized the presidential council in a recent meeting to decide the suitable way through which the party will run for elections.

The presidential council, according to Sahry, tackled several new ideas for the candidates’ electoral campaigns as well as the media committee’s plan over campaigning.
