State commissioners recommend annulling Tiran and Sanafir agreement

The State Commissioners of the Supreme Administrative Court have recommended upholding the administrative court's ruling invalidating the demarcation agreement between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, upon which the islands of Tiran and Sanafir were transferred to Saudi Arabia.

The Supreme Administrative Court, meanwhile, adjourned Monday its decision to December 19, on the challenge filed by the government against the annulment of the agreement, to study the report of the state commissioners.

The administrative court issued last June a ruling annulling the demarcation agreement between the two countries, after which the government challenged the ruling in both the Supreme Administrative and the Constitutional courts.

The Supreme Administrative Court judges who were considering the government's challenge were changed last August.
