Study: Online buying continues to rise in Egypt

A study by the MasterCard Foundation on a sample of 4,000 people from eight countries in the Middle East and North Africa, showed that 52 percent of Egyptian respondents have bought goods online during the three months prior to the study, of whom 80 percent said they were satisfied with this new method.

Aaron Oliver, head of Emerging Payments in the Middle East and Africa, said this is an indication that people are aware of the efficiency and safety of e-commerce.

The study also showed that home appliances, electronics and smartphone applications were among the goods most selected, followed by music download sites, computer programs, clothes, accessories, hotel and restaurant reservations and food delivery.
