Tawadros II to lead Palm Sunday Mass from Alexandria for the first time

Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria, on Saturday, arrived at King Mariot area west of the city, in preparation to lead Palm Sunday Mass tomorrow at 6:30 am, for the first time since he took office in 2012.

A Coptic source at Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria said that the pope will arrive at the cathedral at 5:30 am amid strict security and organizational procedures, and that he would lead the mass at 6:30pm.

The source added that the Pope would leave shortly after a spiritual sermon during the Mass.

Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria is witnessing tight security measures in line with the arrival of Pope Tawadros II to the city.

At the same time, dozens of vendors of palm frond artifacts lined the Cathedral street in Alexandria on Saturday afternoon to sell it to the Coptic people while attending the Sunday night prayer.
