Teachers strike continues into fourth day nationwide

Teachers continued their strike in several governorates on Tuesday, escalating their demands to include the dismissal of the education minister.

Teachers have been striking for four days in around 50 percent of public schools nationwide.

At a school in Beni Suef, parents clashed with teachers who refused to give classes, while parents in the village of Mit Khayroun in the Nile Delta governorate of Daqahlia stormed the only primary school in the village to protest the education directorate's decision not to open a preparatory school.

Striking teachers threatened to hold a "million-man" demonstration on Saturday.
